2021 China International Education Vision Summit

On 14th May 2021, 100 principals and counselors of international schools from all over China gathered at the foot of Fenghuang Ridge in Beijing to kick off the 2021 China International Education Vision Summit, which lasted three days and which was intiated by Providence Academy with the theme of "New Partners and News Horizons". 


The China International Education Vision Summit aims to build a platform for the exchange and cooperation of educational resources between Chinese international schools and overseas universities. Hundreds of representatives of Chinese international schools, representatives of overseas colleges and universities of Providece Academy, the chairman of the Chinese Frederation of Overseas Colleges, and bloggers studying abroad discussed together the way to break the international education industry in the post-epidemic era; join hands as new partners, think and seek together new horizons. 


The summit kicked off with the opening ceremony on the first day. Tony Gao, founder of Providence Academy, Wang Chengyi, academic principal of Beijing No.4 Middle School International Campus, Xiao Na, general manager of Columbia University Global Center, and Yang Fan, dean of Providence Academy, delivered speeches respectively and introduced the original intention and mission of Providence Academy and Vision Summit. Distinguished guests and representatives of international schools from all over the country also used wonderful and humorous self-introductions to set off the relaxed and positive atmosphere of the summit. 



On the second day of the summit, Wang Chengyi, the co-sponsor of the Vision Summit and the principal of Beijing No.4 Middle School International Campus, first shared the theme of "International Education Development Trend". From tracing the development trend of overseas study industry in the past ten years, to analyzing the current situation of studying abroad under the background of the epidemic, and then summarizing the update and iteration of China's international high schools; President Wang used his experience and reflections in the field of international education for more than ten years to lay a solid foundation for this summit. A pragmatic and open discussion tone was established. 


Feng Yujun, Dean of the Institute of Internatioal Studies of Fudan University, started discussions from the professional perspective of international relations, and talked about hot topics such as the ebb of globalization, the adjustment of relations between major countries, the new crown epidemic and changes in immigration policies. Beginning with a brief description of the world pattern, and following the main line of the dynamic reconstruction of the current international order, it analyzes the impact of major international changes on international education in a simple way. 


Wang Mengyan, general of ETS China, talked about the development trend and data of China's international education industry under the changing situation. While reviewing the persistence and innovation of the TOEFL test in China for 40 years, it also unveiled ETS's new test products and cross-border cooperation. 


The round table forum hosted by Harvard University Fulbright scholar Xu Jiru is also one of the highlights of this summit: Professor Hua Ying, director of Cornell China Center, Liu Jin, director of Princeton China Center, and Wang Jianrui, director of Hong Kong University Beijing Center, explained the cooperation opportunities between international schools and overseas universitiies, as well as the new admissions criteria for the international school principals and admission directors, from the perspective of overseas university officials. 


At the Providence Youth round table forum, Jiang Xiaodi, founder of Xingluan Tianxia; Lin Guoyu, co-founders of Providence Academy Sun Guohao and Jiang Runtian, and several Providence youth representatives shared their international school experience, overseas campus life, and experience of research and entrepreneurship after returning to China, allowing the summit members to hear the stories of the new generation of returnee youths, also brought up new opportunities for cooperation between returnee alumni groups and international schools from the perspective of youth. 





Shang Xiao, the co-founder of EasyTransfer, and Truman, the dean of Providence Academy, also jointly launched the service product of "Seniors Helping". The aim is to provide multi-dimensional and refined services for prospective study abroad families; in conjunction with hundreds of high-quality international student KOLs from various schools around the world and the China Federation of Students, we will provide you with graphic and text freshman handbooks, live broadcasts of seniors from hunderds of schoold, and one-on-one customized Q&A, etc., to help freshmen enroll in the last mile, empower teachers, parents and freshmen, and make the enrollment process clearer, more efficient, smoother, and simpler. 


In the sound of drums shouts like rainbows, the construction of the African drum team pushed the summit to a climax: chiefs, warriors, and dancers raised their arms and beat more than a hundred African war drums, and plated a majestic tribal war song together... Compose the fighting spirit and solidarity of 100 international education leaders. 




    


Accompanied by everyone's sincere speeches and cheerful singing at the closing dinner, the 2021 China International Education Prospects Summit also came to an end. 100 international school principals and admission directors from all over China shared, discussed, collided with Providence Academy, and met and reunited with Providence again in the winter, and later established a closer international school alliance organization. 


Accompanied by Providence's school motto of "taking today's responsibilities together and changing the future of studying in China", we hope that we will join hands again to meet new partners and seek a new vision for the development of international education!
